In state budget fights, the "Yellow Pages Test" which stipulates that if you can find a service in the phone book then the government should not compete, has become an effective tool in forcing state and local governments to cut waste, balance budgets, and avoid tax increases. Yet, a program that easily fails the test- government owned networks- continues to be advocated by policy makers on both the left and right across the country. The proliferation of government owned networks has resulted in local governments mired in debt, increased costs for consumers, and outright failure of networks, putting taxpayers at risk. Come listen as experts weigh into this issue, discuss what's happening around the country, and outline what can be done to defeat programs like these that allow government to compete with the private sector.
